Strange New World

It's amazing how fast things have changed. Co-op is cancelled. Seedling Theatre is cancelled. The Recreation Center is closed- no archery class. The Department of Family Services put all adoption meetings on hold. Stores are empty. Social Distancing is now the norm.

Thankfully, Frank already works from home most days. His company now has all employees, who can, work from home.

The kids can continue their school at home. However, I'm not a Chemistry teacher, nor do I have the stuff for the labs. Thankfully Alex's teacher will perform the labs and send a video.

We have lots and lots of books to read. Sabrina is almost done with The Diary of Anne Frank.

I am also thankful that we have lots of board games and card games. I started collecting them for every birthday, Christmas, and Easter several years ago. We have a big selection of solo games, as well as family games.

Alex brought some of his Lego out of storage. Sabrina has pulled out jigsaw puzzles that have been in storage and listened to an audio book from the library while working on one. I'm glad we still have these things.

We also have ways to get exercise, even if we do get stuck at home. I recommend HASFit online workouts.

We also have hobby supplies to help us keep busy and keep our sanity.

For now, the trails at Wetlands Park are open. The Nature Center and the Visitor's Center are both closed, but we will take advantage of the trails for as long as they stay open.

We also went to a prayer meeting, but each family stayed far apart and barely talked afterwards.

This is a strange world we live in. We will do our best to make the most of it.

Marie-Anne
