Trunk or Treat

Our trunk

Madame Blueberry

Percy the french pea

Laura Carrot and Junior Asparagus

Frank (Celery) and Larry the Cucumber

This year was our first time participating in Trunk or Treat. I didn't even know what it was so I looked it up online. Since both kids love Veggie Tales, I used that as my theme.

I spent a whole lot of time working on these guys, but I loved how it turned out. (Alex will get the cutouts for his room.)

Frank ran the ring toss game. He was kept extremely busy!

The kids had a great time. They played with friends, participated in lots of games, whacked a pinata, and got lots of candy. It was a great night.

Homemade Dora Costume

Sabrina has a homemade Dora costume. I even made her bracelet.

To make Map, I took cloth we already had and wrapped a paper towel tube in it. Then I taped it and drew on the face and blue at the top with marker. Sabrina wanted me to add a cape so I used felt that we already had.

For Backpack, I took her Princess backpack and spent less than a dollar on purple felt that I sewed on to cover the princesses. Then I glued on sheets of foam that we already had for the face.

Her dress is one that I got for when she's older so she had to wear a shirt under it.

And the Winner for Silliest Costume is...

Our very own Frank Rendla!

Frank works at a fun place that has lots of contests. He won $25 for this one.

Happy Halloween!

Winterwood Park

Frank got to preach to a good size crowd at the park yesterday.

The kids were being monkeys.

The best garage sale-EVER!

Saturday morning I stopped at several garage sales. The last one had a box of train tracks for $5 and two sets of Dora the Explorer beginner readers for $5. I didn't have enough to get both. I know Sabrina wants a train set, but she also loves Dora and will be learning to read within the next year or so. I got the 24 Dora books. Somebody else got the train set. Sabrina lost it. She was extremely mad at me for a long time even after I promised her we'd get her a train set, just not that one.

After visiting with Tamie I stopped at the garage sale again hoping they still had some of the Dora books. They remembered us, (the lady said she felt so sorry for Sabrina earlier) and sold me 23 Dora books, 2 ballet outfits (for Gymnastics class), a dress up skirt, a Dora movie, and 5 McDonald's toy Bionicles for $8.

All of the items in the picture cost $15! (Alex spent $2.) I am so thankful for God blessing us this way! I have been wanting to get the Dora books for some time and I was going to spend $20 to get Sabrina another outfit for gymnastics. Alex is quite happy that they had the bionicle toys (they also brought back memories for Frank because Alex used to have them and those two played with them quite often).

Swap Meet

On Saturday the kids and I met Tamie, Jacob, and Robert at the Swap Meet. It was our first time going there. It's basically a very large outdoor flea market mixed with some stores selling new merchandise.

The kids, (except Robert) got to ride ponies. It was Sabrina's first time on a pony and she loved it! Alex was quite excited as well. Jacob looked a little unsure about it.

Tamie wasn't sure how Robert would react so he just watched. (He's autisic.)

Gilcrease Animal Sanctuary

We haven't been to Gilcraese in about a year- much too long. The kids and I went on a field trip last week. It was a great day!

We even got up close with some unexpected nature.

Marie-Anne

Wetlands Park

For family day we went to Wetlands Park and took a trail we haven't taken in a while.

I love this picture- it looks like they are having a conversation.

Good visit

These visits never seem to be long enough, but I am so glad they came. The kids loved having Nana and Grumps to themselves, (well Frank and I were there too).

Lewis Family Park with Mom

Mom and I took the kids to Lewis Family Park while Dad rested for the long drive ahead.

The kids loved showing off for their Nana.

Party Princess

Sabrina had a great time dancing in her new sunglasses and hat that Nana got her while wearing her "Christmas dress".

Bass Pro Shop

Frank and the kids took Dad to Bass Pro Shop. It was his first time to go there and as you can tell he was quite impressed.

The kids' favorite part is pretending to drive the four-wheelers and boats. Dad said he really enjoyed watching them play and all the noises they made to go along with their play.

They also got to enjoy the big aquariums.  (Mom and I went shopping during this time.)

Nana and Grumps

My Mom and Dad came to visit the week after Frank's Dad.

My Mom NEVER played catch in the house when I was a kid! Being a grandparent really changes people, I guess. Sabrina had a hard time usig the net so she switched to her baseball bat. The balls are soft balls used for water play.

Dad sat that game out. He talked to Frank, who was busy playing with the Transformers my parents brought supposedly for Alex.

Both of these ladies enjoyed the silly book Nana brought.

Clark County Museum

After lunch we headed to the Clark County Museum. We spent a few minutes indoors doing some of the hands-on displays.

The kids were eager to head outside.

We packed in as many memories as we could during Wayne's visit. We loved having him here.

Hoover Dam

After Lake Mead Visitor Center we went to Hoover Dam. It was lunch time so we didn't stay long, Sabrina was also very whiny.
