Aladdin Play

We met some friends at our sister church for an Aladdin Play. It was a really good production. I was very impressed with the quality of the play.

The girls got to pose with one of the actresses. Despite the age difference, these two have hit it off and become great friends. (That's one of the benefits of homeschooling; kids don't care about age as long as they have common interests and are nice.)

After the play we stopped at Cold Stone for ice cream.

Homeschool Group- Chess Club

A friend just started a Chess Club. The kids have to start out playing Chess and then they are free to play other games.

The Moms got to play games too. We had a great time.

Homeschool Club- Drama Club

Sabrina had an extra play practice with the other girls, who sing It's a Hard Knock Life and NYC. I have to admit I am very impressed with their drama teacher. This play will be amazing. My kids have done acting, but never a musical. They will be dancing, singing, and learning choreography.

Being in Annie will certainly get them out of their comfort zone and teach them lots of new skills.

Mother's Helper

Sabrina was a mother's helper to a new family. She watched 9 month old, Jeriah for the first time outside of nursery. I visited with his mom because it was a bit too far to just drop her off and go back home. Also I really like his mom. Next time, I may go to a nearby park.

Ronald McDonald House- Cookie Crew

We made Snickerdoodles, which are a favorite of the folks at the Ronald McDonald House. They did not have any lunch bags for us to finish decorating, so we made Caring Cards while the cookies baked.

Part of our job as Cookie Crew Members is to clean the kitchen.

We are not fans of the new hairnets, although Alex pointed out we look like pirates. They are itchy and hard to open.

Favorite Caring Cards From September

Alex made origami finger puppets. As far as we know he is the only one who makes origami for Caring Cards. We do know he was the first to make origami finger puppets.

Sabrina made lots of Caring Cards. She even made some double-sided.

I made extra this month to make up for not turning any in last month. I drew some, but didn't get around to coloring them with that whole moving thing...

Friends' Birthday Parties

We were invited to two birthday parties for the same weekend. The first one was Friday night and it was for twin boys. We met at a park at night, (pictures didn't turn out).

The second party was on Saturday at the birthday boy's home.

Roller Skating Class

Alex's teacher spent some one-on-one time with him. She gave him some tips on some of the tricks that are physically difficult for him. She told him to keep practicing and stretching to give him a wider range of motion.

Homeschool Group- Park Day

We recently started going back to park days. Normally, they are lots of fun, but this one wasn't as much. I was getting overheated, there was a screaming baby, Alex felt like one of the other kids was being unfair, there wasn't anyone Sabrina's age.... So we went for a walk and then left.

Homeschool Group- Game Club

We had a new family join us for Game Club. The kids played three games, while I got to know the other mom. I love hosting Game Club it is very low stress, and very fun.

They played our new PacMan Board Game.

Next they played Apples to Apples Jr.

They also played a game Michael brought, which my kids have never played; Outburst.

Exercise

It is finally cool enough to enjoy outdoor activities again! Today was only 88. We have been walking or running through our neighborhood and around a park.

Sabrina has also been riding her scooter almost daily. We have met several neighbors that way.

Homeschool Group- Co-op

Sabrina is taking U.S. Geography, Health and Science, Writing, and a Variety Class consisting of different subjects such as, art, photography, sewing...

Alex is taking Apologetics, Logic, Chemistry, and Chemistry Lab.

We are all together for lunch. Those with food allergies sit at a separate table.

I teach the preschool puppet show and am a helper in Sabrina's Variety Class. A professional photographer is teaching for the first few weeks. I learning as much as the kids are.

These are some of Sabrina's pictures from class. She has learned a lot about lighting and pose.

After classes the parents clean up. The kids help a little bit then play games with their friends = recess.

Many of us walk to the park across the street to unwind before heading home. The parents visit while the kids make their own fun.

The co-op meets weekly and the kids have homework during the week. Other classes such as math, history, and P.E. are taught by us at home.

Nursery

Sabrina and I are partners in nursery again. There are more little ones back there so now they always have two people working nursery.
