Street preaching on the Strip

After prayer meeting a group of us went street preaching on the Strip. Hundreds, possibly thousands of people passed us and were invited to church. Yes, we realize many of them were tourists, but we were giving them something to think about.

After we finished Alex got to hold a snake. A man was telling people about snakes and his partner was dressed as a pirate. Of course Alex loved it. He said it was “even better than holding the lobster or alligator because the snake's mouth wasn't taped and she could open her mouth.” (It was the lobster's claws not mouth that was taped.)

Alex the photographer

This is a picture that Alex took today. Some of his pictures, like this one, turn out great.

Car wash Outreach

Frank led today's outreach. We started with a prayer meeting. Then Frank gave a mini-sermon on needing workers to tend the harvest when it's ready. He talked about how the outreach isn't just knocking on doors or doing a car wash, but it's harvesting souls.

After that we all helped setup for the car wash. At first we all went to the street corner until the cars started coming. As the cars were being washed someone witnessed to the owners and passengers. The ones who were interested in church were given a card to fill out so they can be followed up on. Even people who didn't stop were given church cards, if they were interested.

A lot of cars were washed and a lot of people were witnessed to. Some people even prayed for salvation- at a free car wash.

Lewis Family Park

We had a park outreach at a new to us park. Lewis Family Park is actually only a few minutes from our home in a direction we rarely go. Of Course the kids got to play at the playground while everything was being set up.

Alex rescued this praying mantis from some other kids. They thought it was a walking stick,”it spits in your eyes.” I tried to tell them that praying mantises don't spit, but I don't think they believed me. One girl thought Alex was a hero because she loves Kung Fu Panda.

I know this picture is blurry, but I had to include it. We had already gotten our hotdog and sat to watch the Christian movie. Some kids Alex invited came. I told him that maybe someone he invited would get saved when Pastor preaches at the end of the movie. Alex jumped up and said, “we got to go invite more people so they can get saved!” He led me through the entire park shouting,”Free hotdogs over at the chairs.” The kid was hoarse by the time we finished, but several other kids went to at least get the free food. We are quite proud of our little evangelist.

Herb Farm

We met several families from the homeschool group at an herb farm. A real wonderful couple have turned their whole yard into an organic herb farm. They were great about answering the kids' questions and taught us a lot about herbs and gardening in general. They even let the kids plant their own seeds to take home. Alex chose lettuce and Sabrina got sunflowers.

Mission Hills Park

Before meeting the homeschool group we went to Mission Hills Park. Since it was early we had the whole park to ourselves. As usual the kids had a whole lot of fun.

Someone didn't quite think this one through...

Good thing I'm not as literal as Amelia Bedelia.

I'm sure they could have put the straw somewhere else...anywhere else.

Lynx Lake

After service Frank and I went hiking at Lynx Lake. Well, we didn't actually go to the lake just the woods. It was a whole lot of fun. I love this kind of stuff and without the kids we were able to go longer and climb steep hills... a whole lot of fun! When we were newlyweds we used to go hiking at a local park similar to this- it brought back great memories. I think we need to get a babysitter more often.

I think this is why it's called Lynx Lake. We think it was a fawn.

Conference- Prescott Az

This Conference is unlike anything I've ever been to. It wasn't just being in a tent or having a group of ducklings running around before the service that made it different, (though those are firsts also). We met pastors from England, Russia, Romania, Australia...

God was certainly moving there. When the testimonies were given I felt that God was challenging me to be more than I am. If He can and is doing these things for them He can and will use my life as well. My husband and I completely surrendered to God's will. I do not know all the details, but God wants us to be more than we are and to do more than we have.

Natural History Museum with Mom

My mom came to stay with the kids while we are at Conference. She got here a few days before we left so we got to treat her to the Natural History Museum. This museum is a family favorite. Mom spoiled the kids by getting Alex a volcano kit and Sabrina a couple of mood rings. (When Mom sends me the photos she took I'll add them.)

Princess Tea Party

Sabrina got a new, (to her) princess today. She has quite a collection of the toddler princess dolls, most of which came from thrift stores for a fraction of the cost.

She wanted me to play, but I was in the middle of something so I set up a tea party.

Mount Charleston

After prayer meeting we went to Mount Charleston on Saturday. Although it was still hot it was much cooler than Las Vegas' 112 degrees. We had a good time Sabrina kept saying, “mountain!” We hiked a little bit and just enjoyed nature.
