Outdoor Hour Challenge # 2
Today our walk was around our apartment complex. Our apartments are landscaped with different types of trees and artificial (to this area) grass. I told Alex to be quiet and listen as we walked. It was hard for him to keep quiet, but he did pretty well for a four-year-old. Here are our lists of what we heard:
1 word for something you heard:
Alex: tweet-tweet
Me: chirping
2 words for something you saw:
Alex: baby pinecone
Me: buzzing bee
3 words for something you felt:
Alex: soft/hard trees
Although not part of the challenge I made note of things we observed. We observed a bee, a cat, a pretty purple flower, doves, and someone planted what looked like a cantaloupe so we searched the vine for more.
Sabrina observed a rock, grass, and a leaf that she tried to eat. After that I held her hand and let her wander around. Can’t have the baby eating the nature.
Since we took the first Challenge last week we have tried to be outside almost every day. Alex even left the playground to walk among the trees at the park on his own! I am sop glad that we are doing this.

It sounds like your nature study time outdoors is going really well. I think with young children you take things really slowly and follow their lead and you are doing just that.
Alex did a great job with the words for this challenge.
Thanks so much for sharing your link,

Thank you. I think it is going really well, even better than I'd thought. Alex wants to go outside today so he can get back to his ship (big rock).
