MLK Park

I used to take Alex and Sabrina to MLK Park all the time when they were little. We haven't been there in years. We had the entire playground to ourselves.

Seedling Theatre- Fundraiser -A Disney Wish

We went to a fundraiser for Seedling Theatre, where the staff sang Disney Songs.  It was an awesome performance that I did not want to end. It inspired Alex to take a singing camp this Summer. I had no clue he would be interested in that.

It was also the first time we got a babysitter for the little boys. (Alex and Sabrina watch them when Frank and I go on dates.)

Acacia Park

Sabrina attempted to teach her younger brothers to roll down a hill. Caleb did it once and I don't Joshua ever did.

Alex was there too, but he was with some friends.

Mt. Charleston Hike

This was actually one of the first hikes we did with the little boys. I thought I had posted about it. It was a short, but very fun hike in the absolutely beautiful forest of Mt. Charleston. We took a lesser known trail and only saw two other families on the entire trail.

Valley of Fire State Park

We visited Valley of Fire State Park in March. We had a nice picnic then enjoyed a beautiful hike. It was hot on the way back from our hike; I do not recommend going during the Summer. (We did that before and we did not even hike at all because it was way too hot.) The little boys' favorite part was when we stopped in the shade and let them play in the sand for a long time. They did not want to leave.

In fact on the way back to the car we got dirty looks from several hikers because Caleb kept whining, "I want water." We responded with, "You can have some when we get to the car." Of course they had no idea that he says, "I want water." when he doesn't want to go to bed, or doesn't want to do what he's told. Or in this case, doesn't want to leave the beautiful, fun, red sand and he wanted us to carry him. We actually did make sure he was hydrated.

Acacia Park

Alex, Sabrina, and I stopped at Acacia Park one day before their class at Seedling Theatre. This park has demonstration gardens and people feed the wildlife. The ground squirrels will get uncomfortably close to you.

I'm not sure what the animal in the last picture is. It looks like a chinchilla, so maybe somebody released unwanted pets. There were two of them. We also saw a rat, but I wasn't able to get a picture.

Big Bend of the Colorado State Park

The Big Bend of the Colorado State Park is just a strip of sandy beach on the Colorado River. It's beautiful. The water was too cold for swimming, but just right for wading. And of course the little boys loved playing in the sand. The perfect way to end our trip was with a picnic!

We purchased a year's pass to all Nevada State Parks.

Spring Mountain State Park

We went on a hiking trail that we have never been on then had a picnic. Going during the off-season has it's perks. We only passed one person on the trail and there were only a handful of families spread out at the picnic area.
