Frank and I are half way through our Department of Family Service's Adoption Class. We will be adopting from foster care.
Tonight is our turn to provide snacks. So Alex and Sabrina both made cookies for the class. We will also bring pupusas.

English Second Language Class
Frank and Christine taught on passive sentences. The students' English has greatly improved since we started the class.
Alex played action figures with the older boy. It is such a help having him separated from his younger siblings. I think he is starting to look up to Alex.
I totally let Sabrina handle the younger kids tonight. I was in the room, but since there was no issues and Sabrina wants to be a babysitter I let her handle the kids. She did a great job.

Sabrina absolutely loves her job as a mother's helper. She said that she feels like she should pay my friend to watch her little man.

Ronald McDonald House- Cookie Crew
We made Snickerdoodles. Alex is sick of making, though not eating, Snickerdoodles. I told him to find a recipe as good as the Snickerdoodles and they can make it next time.
Part of doing the Cookie Crew is cleaning up the kitchen before we leave. Sabrina did the dishes and mopped the floor. Alex wiped down the counters and put our stuff away.
Last time we went to the Ronald McDonald House, we asked if they had other jobs we could do. This time they had some lunch bags that needed more decoration. It is pretty much the same as the Caring Cards Program, but drawing on the bags the lunches come in. Just something to bring a smile to the families of the sick kids. The Ronald McDonald House provides sack lunches to the families while they are visiting their kids in the hospitals.

Swimming Pool with Friends
Our friends asked us to join them at the pool. Since we purposely schedule time to build and maintain relationships, we were able to say yes. Of course, we can't always say yes, but a lot of times we can. Many people we know are so busy that they can't find time for friendships. Anyway, we had a great time at the pool.

Company Family Day- Shark Reef
The company Frank works for has an annual Family Day every Summer. This year we went to the Shark Reef. They fed us lunch at the food court and held a raffle. We got POGO Passes, which allow us to to visit different attractions in our area, (bowling, laser tag, lion habitat, sea quest, museums...)!

English Second Language Class
Frank taught this week's class on future tense.
Alex took the older boy into another room from his younger siblings to play action figures with him. It was Alex's first time being completely in charge of him.
Alex made Sugar Cookies for the snacks. He also swept up some walnut shells that somebody left in the lobby.
Sabrina played with the younger children. She is my assistant and does a great job- toddlers and preschoolers love her. Sabrina made copies of coloring pages and cleaned up the toys after class. She also made Peanut Butter Cookies for the snack.

Library- Fratello Marionettes
We went to see the Fratello Marionettes at another library. It was a show that we have not seen before. This one was based on Mother Goose and was geared for younger kids. Alex and Sabrina were the oldest kids by far. I'm still glad we went because the Fratello Marionettes are awesome.

CHoSN- Feeding the Homeless
We joined Christian Homeschoolers of Southern Nevada (CHoSN) as they fed the homeless and gave them toiletries. We fed about 150 men and women. It was sad when we ran out of food and had to turn people away.
I recently found this group and I love that they do lots and lots of volunteer work. There were two other new families, and we all had 10 year old girls.
