Wayne's Visit- Pittman Wash

We enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day for being outdoors by going on a hike. We walked for a little over an hour.

Sabrina spent a few minutes on the swings near the parking lot.

Wayne's Visit- Early birthday

Since Wayne's birthday wasn't too long after his visit, we got a cake and sang Happy Birthday.

Wayne's Visit- Homeschool Group End of Year Party

The Homeschool Group's End of the Year Party was held during Wayne's visit, so he got to go too. The guys watched the kids in the pool while the moms visited mostly inside.

Alex played in the pool the entire time. He didn't even really eat. Sabrina enjoyed the time in the pool, but she also got a tour of our friends' home and plenty of snacks. It was a whole lot of fun.

English Second Language Class

Alex and Sabrina were acting like siblings- "the everything you are touching is lava in 3,2,1". So I made them play Fruit Ninja Card Game before the only student of the night showed up.

The class is a drop-in class so we never know exactly how many students will come. The regular students call if they cannot make it, but there is always the possibility of new students.

Sabrina was kept busy with the two younger kids. The oldest boy mostly played by himself.

Wayne's Visit- Picnic at Lake Mead

The kites were super fun for a little while.

Frank grilled hamburgers and brats. They were very good. Our picnic was pretty relaxing for everyone except Frank, who cooked almost the entire time.

The kids and I took lots and lots of super silly pictures. I was trying to get some nice pictures, but they were squirrelly and goofy. I finally was able to get the pictures above.

Wayne's Visit- Pinball Hall of Fame

We took Wayne to the Pinball Hall of Fame. I think this was our first time taking him. There are dozens of pinball machines and arcade games to play. Some are antiques. It is a fun place that costs as much or as little as you want to pay. Most games are either a quarter or fifty cents.

James' Birthday Party

We were invited to our friend, James', birthday party. He likes Star Wars, so we got him a game and Sabrina made the painting in the picture. She also played Happy Birthday on her ukulele.

James and Shelly are great friends. We are very thankful for them.

Donut Judge Me 5K

There were about 1100 people participating in the 5K as either runners or walkers. We purposely chose fun themed 5K's because, well, we have kids.

Frank and Alex were in the first wave of runners. Frank finished 7th out of 49 in his age group, in under 30 minutes. Alex finished 3rd out of 57 in his age group. His time was 34 minutes. I'm quite proud of my guys!

Sabrina and I walked the entire 3 miles. As walkers, we had the luxury of stopping at the donut stops the runners just breezed by.

Sabrina got overheated. She drank all of her water and the rest of mine. We had to stop in the shade a few times. Frank brought us more water as we neared the finish line. Despite that we made it to the finish line!

Homeschool Group- Park Day

Park day was at Hidden Falls Park. More families come to park days now that Co-op and a homeschool music class, (that many in our group are part of), are over.

Homeschool Group- Sprouts Grocery Store Tour

We joined our friends from our homeschool group at Sprouts for a tour of the grocery store. Our tour guide took us throughout the store including the warehouse and refrigerator. They also gave everyone, (including parents) goodie bags and fruit.

English Second Language Class

Alex made Snicker Doodle Cookies. Sabrina made Chinese Almond Cookies. Most of the cookies were gone by the end of the fellowship. The remaining cookies were sent home with the students. Both kids did a great job!

Sabrina was kept busy playing with the kids. They played with dinosaurs, dragons, and unicorn puppets all at the same time. It was quite entertaining. Sabrina also made copies of the coloring pages and played card games with the older kids. I mostly entertained the little guy this time.

The class used a worksheet that asked students questions about education which sparked great discussions, allowing students to explain interesting concepts in English.

Homeschool Club- Game Club

We are now hosting the Game Club at our house, since Erica is moving. We had our first meeting here today. Game club is normally a small group. Today there was only one guest. However, the three kids had a blast. They each brought a few games to play, which makes it fun because they get to play new to them games.

One of the perks of hosting Game Club is that Alex and Sabrina are learning to be hospitable. They both helped clean up before the meeting. They were instructed to let the guest choose the first game. Also as host they will play, even if they don't like the game or don't know how to play. Exceptions would be a game that gives Alex a headache, (Googly Eyes) or if there is a big enough group that they could play another game with someone else. 

Other perks are: I don't have to go anywhere, playing games builds friendships, and my house is clean.
