Nana's Visit- Clark County Museum

We took Nana to the Clark County Museum. It was her first time going there and she seemed to really enjoy herself. She even saw some things that she had growing up or that people she knew had.

The kids really like the hands-on aspect of the museum. (The batteries in my camera died.)

Nana's Visit- Barnes & Noble

We took Nana to Barnes & Noble. The kids had a good time showing her around the kids' area.

Nana's Visit- Sunset Park

After Ethel M., Mom and I took the kids to Sunset Park. The kids had a great time playing while Mom and I watched them and talked.

Mom made friends with a partially blind pigeon. We gave him big crumbs, but he still pecked the ground about 10 times before actually hitting the crumb. I think the kids wanted to take him home.

Nana's Visit- Ethel M Chocolate Factory

My Mom visited us for a week! The kids were so excited because she spoils them rotten.

We took Mom to Ethel M's cactus garden. My Mom loves plants. The kids kept trying to rush her because they cared more about the free piece of chocolate than looking at the plants. I held them in check and reminded them that it was Nana's first time to be there.

We saw several of these moths. Each one of us carefully took a turn holding the moth. When I took it to let it go it peed on me-YUCK! After I scrubbed my hands, (really well) we did the factory tour and got our free piece of chocolate.

Frank has started working from home on Tuesdays. This means that the kids and I are now using Tuesdays to do some fun stuff. One week we met some friends at McDonalds play place.

After that we visited our old library, since we were in the area. We miss the children's librarians there.

And we stopped in at the Nature Center. The Nature Center has a program where you can borrow a backpack full of things to enhance your hike; magnifying glasses, binoculars, field guides... So we took advantage of that.

We had a fun hike using the backpack. We were able to identify many plants and animals we saw. We also enjoyed the scavenger hunt list.

Maslow Park

We left early for the street preaching to take the kids to Maslow Park. We had two very happy kids!

Wetlands Park

For family time we often go to the Wetlands Park.

It feels good to be out in nature together.

Of course the kids wouldn't dream of letting us skip the play ground.

Walk in the desert

Sometimes when we are early to pick Frank up, the kids and I take a walk on the hiking trail beside his work. We always have a good time.

Housewarming Party

 

The ladies from church threw me a house warming party. It was a lot of fun. There were about 20 ladies who came and brought yummy food. I also got lots of gifts for the house.

Pheonix in Febuary- Pheonix Zoo

 

I have never seen a kid more excited to go to a zoo than Sabrina was. She was downright giddy. She laughed about everything, for the first half of the zoo.

Both kids were thrilled to be able to ride a camel. They begged to ride again.

Of course the playgrounds were fun too.

I wish this wonderful tree house and stream were in our city!

As you can tell, we had a wonderful trip.

Phoenix in Febuary- Boston Market and the hotel

We ate at Boston Market because Las Vegas doesn't have one and I love that place. For some reason it didn't live up to expectations.

The kids absolutely loved the hotel. They were so excited that one might think that was what we came to Phoenix for!

Phoenix in Febuary- Echo Canyon

Frank took a day off and we took an overnight trip to Phoenix to take the kids to the zoo. (Las Vegas doesn't have one worth mentioning.)

 

On that Friday we went hiking at Echo Canyon. It was a very steep trail, but it had a lovely view.

We hiked to a dead end that had a bee hive above us. Needless to say, once we realized what it was we quietly and quickly left the area.

I took the kids to Sunset Park to play and for a picnic. We had a good time.

Hiking at Whitney Mesa for my B-day

On my birthday we had a fun hike at Whitney Mesa. After that we went to eat at Red Lobster and for desert we stopped at Dairy Queen. It was a very nice birthday.

Chuck E Cheese with Lulu and Gus

We invited some friends over for dinner and to go to Chuck E Cheese. We haven't seen Gus and Lulu in a very very long time. We had such a good time with this very special family.

Update

It has been way too long since the last post. I just kinda lost interest in the blog, but since several people have asked about it I'm back.

The media fast taught us several things. Frank has scaled back his computer games, even though his playing was never extensive. He has also set up even more rigid criteria for games he plays.

I have scaled back on the amount of time I spend on the computer and truthfully I have gotten bored with some of my favorite blogs. These are blogs that have gotten really popular and, it seems to me, have become little more than advertisements for all the free stuff they get for reviews. I have been reading a lot more.

Alex doesn't ask to use the computer nearly as much as he used to. He has been spending more time with his toys or riding his bike.

Sabrina has learned to entertain herself. She doesn't constantly need attention or a DVD. She has also been playing in the back yard more and building club houses out of blankets nearly every day.

Each of us sometimes lapse into our former habits, but now we catch ourselves. Well, the parents catch Sabrina- she loves watching DVDs.
