Maslow Park

This morning I took the kids to Maslow Park. Sabrina was standing on a bench when Alex ran by, she learned the hard way not to run off of a bench. Poor kid. She scrapped her knee and got a bruise on her cheek. Despite that they had a good time.

Lewis Family Park

We went to Lewis Family Park so Frank could invite people to church and the kids could play. It was a win-win situation.

I caught Sabrina peeking out the tunnel.

Alex had a little trouble climbing this thing, but he managed to do it twice. He was extremely proud of himself.

Wetlands Park

For family time we went to Wetlands Park. We saw several rabbits and several different kinds of birds and insects. It was a good walk.

The kids had fun racing each other and “fighting” with some weeds.

We HAD to stop at the playground. Alex loves to climb on things like this.

Alex School- Too nice to stay indoors

This past week was in the 90's much too nice to stay inside!

Sunday we went to Winchester Park after church.

Tuesday we went to Shadow Rock Park for Family time.

On Wednesday the kids were fighting so we went outside.

Friday was a busy day. Alex thought the shredded paper was more fun than anything else in the sensory tub.

Alex and Sabrina made farm themed collages using some of Alex's old workbooks. (I don't keep every workbook, though I do keep samples from every one.)

We met the homeschool group in the afternoon for a tour of Ethel M Chocolate Factory.

Our church had an outreach at Paradise Park that evening.

Saturday we went door to door inviting people to church. Then we went to Winchester Park to invite the people there. Alex got to play while we talked to people.

Of course, Alex also did lots of reading , Brain Pop, and other “school” type stuff, but this is the fun stuff post.

Pizza Hut Book It Program

The Pizza Hut Book It Program accepts homeschoolers! It's not too late to join. It starts on Oct 1st, even if you don't receive your packet before then you can print off the printables and keep track of your child's reading so you'll be ready when you get the packet.

The child can get a free personal pan pizza each month for 6 months for reading.

Making outreach fun for kids

Today we met at church for outreach then we walked to a nearby neighborhood. When we got to the first door a little voice said, “I have to use the bathroom!” Back to the church we went. I drove back the the neighborhood and we doorknocked for a while. Alex was my partner. After I invited people Alex would ask, “Do you want to be in the army of God?” (I love that kid!)

After that we went to a park to invite more people. Alex got to play at the playground for a while. He was quite happy about that. After everyone was invited we let him play for a few more minutes before heading to Albertson's parking lot. Alex got to play on the shopping cart return area. (During this time Sabrina was at church playing with her friends in nursery.)

We try to find fun things for him to do when were out inviting people to church. We are on the lookout for a park or quarter machine or something to make it fun. Sometimes if nothing else is available we will stop for frosties at Wendy's.

Paradise Park

Our church had an outreach at the park. Paradise Park is a new to us park. The kids were thrilled to go to the play ground. While they were playing I invited several families to church.

Alex loved the zip line. I tried it too, but I wasn't able to get my legs up high enough.

Some kids wouldn't play with Alex. They really hurt his feelings. I told him that they need Jesus too. Alex aka Bible Boy got real excited. He took a handful of flyers and went back to invite the kids who weren't being nice to church. I am so proud of him!

Farm sensory tub

I love sensory tubs. They are so fun for the kids. Sabrina is doing a farm theme for the next week or so. I used shredded paper to be the hay, small My Little Ponies, stacking barrels to be rain barrels, a blue duplox pieces to be a pond, and pieces from wooden farm puzzles. The kids like the “hay” more than anything. They tried to make bird nests with it. So I added toy eggs.

As the week goes by I'll add some more farm animals and a felt barn.

Ethel M Chocolate Factory

We met the homeschool group at Ethel M. We did the free tour and of course got our free chocolate.

Then we walked the trail through the cactus gardens. It was very hot. Everyone sat down after one trip around one trail. Alex exclaims, “We haven't walked all the trails!” So we walked some more by ourselves. Then he wanted to do the tour again so he could “study.” I agreed. Alex didn't actually study anything he just wanted another piece of chocolate. Mean Mommy that I am I said no.

Shadow Rock Park

For family night we took the kids to Shadow Rock Park. For some reason the kids didn't really play. Sabrina kept watching a family having a party and Alex kept complaining that he didn't have anyone to play with. I think they were both jealous because they weren't part of the party.

After we left we stopped at Albertson's for milk. Alex dropped the gallon of milk. It exploded! He was covered head to toe in milk. It was hilarious, though he didn't think so. Too bad I left the camera in the car.

Winchester Park

After church, on Sunday, we took the kids to Winchester Park. Even though we didn't stay long they had fun.

Father-Son Campout

This past weekend our church has a Father-Son campout near Enterprise Utah, at the Honeycomb campsite. Although someone tried to stop us on our journey,

we arrived safely. We camped with some of the men of the church:

We climbed the cool rock formations.

And we went fishing

Overall, we had a great time.

It was a wonder time of fellowship and adventure, a change of pace from our busy evangenalism schedule.

Tot School on the go- 34 months

Tot School

On Monday we went hiking at Pahranagat Wildlife Preserve. Sabrina loved looking for birdhouses.

Sabrina had fun, (for a few minutes) sorting buttons by color.

We had a revival at church. Before service Sabrina and Alex had fun playing with the toys in the nursery. She also got to play with her friends every night during service.

As usual, story-time at the library was a big hit with her.

This week we took her brother to a school age story time and Sabrina got to tag along. She enjoyed playing with puzzles before it started. She also got to build with Legos like the big kids!

She really enjoyed hiking the Historic Railroad Trail at Lake Mead.

On Monday we went hiking at Pahranagat Wildlife Preserve. While hiking we discussed oasis and migration.

Alex read a whole lot of books. He's loves to read.

We had a revival at church. Before service Alex and Sabrina had fun playing with the toys in the nursery.

We almost always go to story-time at our local library.

We went to a special school age story-time at the library that included playing with Legos!

Alex really enjoyed hiking the Historic Railroad Trail at Lake Mead.
